What's it like to work with KARE? Some typical responsibilities include:

  • Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist and adhere to community documentation guidelines.
  • Record treatments given and progress notes in medical record.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area.
  • Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Record treatment charges per the community policy and procedures.
  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in a maintenance program.
  • Report any changes in residents' physical condition and/or behavior.
  • May require experience with evaluating and treating residents with memory impartment if assigned to memory care areas of community.

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) therapy program.
  • Current state licensure for Texas.
  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Results-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • CPR Certification (optional).
  • Minimum requirement: 2 years clinical experience, and/or 1 year clinical experience directly in acute care, skilled nursing and/or AL/MC.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs on a regular basis and ability to help patients who require physical assistance.
